Blackpool Museum Project: The Amuseum

The Amuseum will be Blackpool’s first museum. Opening in 2020, it will be the biggest new museum development in the North West. It will tell the story of Blackpool as the UK’s first mass seaside holiday resort and its role in the development of British popular culture and entertainment.

Through fun and lively interactive displays the museum will reveal rarely told stories about variety, circus, magic, and dance. The displays will include over 800 objects brought together for the first time. These iconic and important objects come from Blackpool’s nationally significant collections and national partners including the Victoria & Albert Museum, EMI Group Archive Trust, British Music Hall Society and private collectors. It will become the authoritative voice on British popular culture and entertainment.
